That's the question everyone being asking me after my very first Kheerganga Trek which was an perfect trek for the beginners. So in this blog i will let you know about, What should we carry ? Which type of shoes you will wear ? How 3 point contact is important in trek ? Pre-Trek exercise and Difference between types of Trek's etc etc......
So without further ado lets begin with, what exactly you should be carrying with you during trek's. As our tag line goes "Carry Less,Travel More" we have to stick to this since on every single trek your luggage weight should be as low as possible because you don't want to end up having an back pain or dizziness at the end of your journey. Trekking in Himachal or any part of India you have to make sure that your backpack includes only the important stuff which will be required in trek depending upon the weather condition's of the place. If you are planning to go for Himalayan Range trek you have to carry adequate number of warm clothes and pairs of socks and hand gloves rather carrying more and more T-Shirts or Short pants which eventually end up your trip in freezing cold or so. If you are planning to trek in Hot-Humid weather condition things goes complete opposite of Himalayan range trek, where you need to concentrate on carrying more of liquid stuff like energy drinks and juices to keep your body hydrated.
Now here is an important thing for all the trekker's, no matter how difficult you trek is whether its beginner, amateur, tough or professional level trek. One thing which you should have with you is tight gripped shoes. Nothing is scarier than getting a thought of slipping down the rock headed mountain. You should always have good quality trek shoes which will help to make your climb looks easier and comfortable. Also, a small tip whenever you will buy such shoes you have to make sure you are having 1+ size of your shoes as whenever you will be climbing down from the hill due to steep slopes if your shoes is perfectly fitted up then there is 100% chance of injuring your Toe and if you have 1+ size then it gives breathing place for your toe and major injury can be avoided by taking care of such small tiny things.
There might be hardly few of the folks here who knows about the 3 point contact. This technique is the most important thing one should learn if they are wandering around places which has steep slopes and rough path. 3 point contact included our both Right- Left Hand, as well as our Legs. No that's like 4 parts of our body then why its called as 3-point contact? Easiest way to learn or to explain a 3 point contact technique is an example of an "Ladder". Whenever we are climbing ladder we keep our both hands tighten up to ladder and climb it up using our left or right foot in the air rotation-ally. Same as that whenever we are trekking up the mountain you have to make sure your hands are tighten up the grip and one of your leg is stick'ed to the ground while you are free to make your next move with your another leg which will search for a firm surface. This technique really helped me out during this Himachal trek which i mentioned earlier.
Exercise or health checks are must to do whenever you are travelling anywhere around the world but when it comes to trek you have to focus more on your physical strength and have to plan to give your best whenever you are preparing for it. Whole exercise thing depends on what kinda trek you will be going to is it the normal trek or steep slope with more of physical and mental strength. Now before my journey began i started my workout a month ago where i used to hit gym and i concentrated on cardio more rather strengthening my muscle as i knew my heart beats needs to be controlled first to keep myself calm during any occasion. Once am done with cardio i used to try to gain more and more proteins throughout the day through diet-food(which include all sprouted pulses). Only suggestion which i will give is to run and run until you give up and try to beat the time when you gave up yesterday as well.
So that's what you all needs to do whenever you will plan to trek. Do let me know in comment if you find this article/Blog informative and follow me to get such blogs update regularly.
